Hey, I'm kathryne
I am a Freelance Photographer and Product Designer based in the Washington, D.C. area. I am a travel enthusiast, dog-loving, pasta eating, people-person photographer who is always up for whatever idea you may throw at me!
Background
I graduated from the University of Virginia in 2021 with a B.A. in Media Studies and American Studies. I took up photography during my Second Year at UVA, where I learned how to use a Nikon DSLR Camera and work with photo editing software, including Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. During my Third Year, I spent an entire semester in Rome, Italy. Here, I further studied the photographic arts with my program and had the opportunity to practice my skills on some of the world's oldest ruins and architecture, as well as some of the locals. I started my freelancing business in my Fourth Year, where I primarily shot headshot and graduation photos for my classmates. After graduation, I took a job at the Virginia Hospital Center as a newborn photographer until Fall '22.
where i am today
Today, I work full time as a Product Designer with Ascend Learning, while working as a Freelance Photographer outside of work hours. Although I still specialize in outdoor lifestyle sessions, my background in product and website design have allowed me to expand my skillset to include branding related imagery.
